Ronni, I use Winsor & Newton watercolour, but just more pigment, less water. Doing large dark areas are tricky as you can’t layer or overpaint as the watercolour just activates and joins the wash. In a recent lG post I used some water based inks from Germany that Christoph Niemann recommended when we visited him last summer. Again a very different approach to opacity and translucency with proportions of pigment to water.
No, I will definitely check them out. My nephew gave me a Japanese brush from his travels in Japan and it was the most incredible draw/paint tool until my poor brush hygiene killed it. I have always vowed to find another like it.
