I always stress the way I feel when I draw. It is the most calming, focused and relaxed my brain is. I wish more rehab centers would hand patients a sketchbook on day one.
The drawings accompanying the post are me drawing listening to people talk about other things. The post is focused on a studio class working with students on the project of communicating meaning through drawing working with a life model. Do you recommend Question 7 as an interesting read, or pertaining to the subject of this post?
Yes I realized you sketched that while listening to Ezra Klein podcast which is what prompted the question because I wonder if you have thoughts about different states of mind as you draw whether you’re just obsessively drawing as you listen to something or trying to capture something you specifically see. Somehow that’s the way it is with me. Question seven is a brilliant read and it does pertain a lot to memory and how we take in the world and what we do with it absolutely brilliant
When I am taking notes with my sketchbook the drawings become part of the processing of the content and sometimes they are purely visual engagement. Before the iPad and remote meetings I had a much more involved visual notetaking process—the MeetMeat section of my website. Thanks for the book recommendation.

Agreed. We need more people to just draw without worrying about results and just let their hand think. Better than a therapy bot.
100%. Very well written article by the way.
Thanks Jackie. Appreciated.
So what do you think of drawing while listening to people talk about other things. Also. You should read Question 7.

All very interesting thank you Joe. Possibly more about state of mind and time for me.
